If they prefer to have an ISV- our intelligent service vehicle specially designed to clean ad service IPtoilets, we can provide it with additional cost. This ISV can ensure uninterrupted support for the system with a dedicated service support person with service vehicle and equipments. As IPtoilets are self cleaning facility, daily one time cleaning is required by manually removing any residues and bottles. Altersoft or its agent usually undertake 5 years maintenance along with installation and outsource it for local contractor or NGO under our supervision. It required a minimum number of toilets to be installed in a city. If the owner arranged for daily cleaning and servicing of IPtoilets, Altersoft will provide training to the local cleaning staff.
ISV: Without proper maintenance, public toilets are useless and a health hazard to the public. Intelligent Service Vehicle (ISV) which maintains a cluster of IPtoilets installed in and around a city or municipality. It has uniformed and trained service person, pressure cleaning facility, mobile incinerator and service parts required for the maintenance and daily cleaning of installed IPtoilets. It just takes 5 to 10 minutes to clean one IPtoilet

The IPtoilet product is significantly less costly and provides many more special cost saving features than a conventionally designed public toilet facility. Its operational cost is less than 5% of the normal conventional toilets. (See question and answer no.11)
Conventional Public toilet projects need to go through a lengthy and expensive architectural design process and an engineering design confirmation before being sent to consultants for a costly and time consuming tender process before being let to a contractor who may take months to complete. During this construction phase, there are ongoing costs of supervision and contract evaluation.
By contrast, the IPtoilet facility has a fixed price for the unit itself and a fixed price for any optional extras and most IPtoilet distributors will also provide a quote for installation so all of the costs are clearly known before the project is initiated.
All IPtoilet units are designed to provide a sustainable product that offers the maximum comfort to users with the minimum resources required for operation and maintenance. Some of the features included or developed by Altersoft Innovations India Pvt Ltd are:
- Water Saving: All IPtoilet facilities feature automated sensor operated tap systems which limit the length of time that a water outlet can be turned on. These taps and water supplies keeps a minimum water pressure which keeps the amount of water used to be a minimum.
- Ventilation: IPtoilet units have an extensive amount of natural ventilation provided with turbo ventilator overhead, which eliminates the need for electric extraction systems. This system not only enhances the healthy environment of the unit but also reduces power consumption.
- Power Saving Systems: Our electric door locking system has been designed to minimize power consumption. Each lock will use less than 200 mA to keep the doors open during toilet opening. Power consumption reduced to zero during the time toilet is not used.
- Wall mounted sensor operated basins: providing touch free sensor dispensing of soap, water and hand drying
- Toilet seat washing units: where the toilet seat is retracted into a wash cabinet after each use and is available again at the push of a button.
- Remote monitoring: through a PC with statistics on usage and access to system variables.
- Emergency call system: linked to a monitoring service
- Discrete sanitary disposal facilities
- Warning lights and signage for people with hearing impediments
- Occupation time fixing for users with online activation
- Air conditioning
- Automatic napkin dispensers
- Solar panels can be incorporated to power the unit
No. IPtoilets can be custom designed specifically to meet disabled access.
Yes. IPtoilet has primarily designed for Kerala PWD and it is possible to customize for each country where the units are installed and, where necessary, modifications are made to ensure compliance with the various code requirements in the countries where the product will be installed.
IPtoilet units are easy to transport by road, rail and ship. It s portable unit and can be assembled at sight. All IPtoilet units are designed to fit within a container dimension. All that is required is a few small concrete foundations which are poured a few days before the unit is delivered to site. The service access hole in the floor of the service bay of the unit must be clear of these foundations so that a small trench can be dug in under the unit after it is installed to make connections of the various services. In most cases, the whole installation can be completed in 3 to 5 days provided the services are nearby and easy to connect to.
No, detailed lifecycle cost comparisons have been made for IPtoilet product which is significantly cheaper to maintain than conventional toilets.
- One major feature offered on all IPtoilet products is the automatic lock up and unlock function which can be set to lock up the toilet unit at a preset time.
- Repair costs for vandalism are well controlled because all of the operating components in the toilet facility are concealed in the service area so that they are not available to be damaged or broken.
- All of the surfaces used on our IPtoilet facilities have been proven to be very resilient, hard-wearing and easy to clean which minimizes the need to repaint or refurbish the facility.
- To minimize the costs of specialist products, Altersoft has tried to use standard off the shelf product wherever possible although a number of the special features included in the IPtoilet require special components that has been designed and developed by the Altersoft engineers specifically for the IPtoilet.
Cleaning costs of IPtoilet units have proven to be significantly lower than conventional toilets.
Provided the cleaning are done using ISV (Intelligent service Vehicle provided by Altersoft) to take full advantage of the special features that the automated IPtoilets offer, the cleaning costs should be reduced by 5%.
Using the automated wash cycle every 5/10 uses enables the cleaning visits to be reduced by daily once. So, if a conventional toilet was normally cleaned frequently, IPtoilet can be cleaned once per day to keep the same level of cleanliness
It should be noted that, on each cleaning visit, all surfaces need to be cleaned down thoroughly with a cleaning agent and cloth to remove grime that cannot be removed with the normal cleaning cycle. ISV has all facility to do the cleaning, service and repair of IPtoilet without much manual work. Using ISV it takes only 10 minutes to clean one IPtoilet location. One city with 50 IPtoilets thus requires one or two person with one ISV to clean all toilets.
The services required to install an IPtoilet are as follows:
Underground power supply single phase 220 - 240 volts with a minimum of 40 - 60 amps depending on the model of toilet unit chosen.
Sewer connection minimum 4" (100mm). This can be taken to a main sewer line or put into a septic or bio-membrane disposal system.
Sewer connection through an overflow relief gully (ORG) for floor waste connections. The floor waste sockets in the units are 65mm or 2½ inch fitting which needs to be bushed out to 100mm once in the ground and then connected to an overflow relief gulley before being connected to the sewer line.
Water supply. To make the flush valves work successfully, the water supply at the connection point at the unit needs to have a minimum flow rate of 100 liters per minute and a minimum dynamic pressure of 300kPa. To protect the flush valve, the maximum water pressure is 500 kPa. All IPtoilet units have pressure regulation system installed inside which will look after above mentioned pressure levels.
Remote monitoring. If remote monitoring is required, the site needs to be within range of a GSM mobile network.
Yes, the Altersoft team can provide advice and recommendations on all aspects of public toilets. We have found that the best way to eliminate or reduce vandalism or to eliminate sexual attacks or unprovoked violence is to position the toilets in a prominent location, preferably near a busy roadway. In most cases, we would also recommend that the main entry doors be oriented to face the passing traffic as this ensures that any person acting suspiciously is noticed.
We suggest 2 toilet pan models (IPtoilet 1020 Double) as in Indian conditions one can be used for Ladies and other for Gents. IPtoilet facilities are suited for locations where they will experience random arrivals and departures throughout the day. In parks and similar locations, where the average number of uses is up to 50 people per day, then one toilet pan is more than adequate. Many single IPtoilets cater for up to 200 people per day or more but, in these circumstances, there is often some queuing.
Yes, IPtoilet facilities have an excellent safety record and this is largely the result of the policy of having the minimal number of moving parts.
There is no possibility of trap inside as there is any electronics while user gets inside. They can use toilet just manually locking a tower bolt from inside.
In addition to signage and voice messages to assist users, IPtoilet also have patent pending movement detectors that ensure that any movement within the cubicle is detected.
Movement Detection: IPtoilet units include a vandal resistant, well protected movement sensor that detects any movement within the cubicle. This movement detector ensures that the door will remain closed and locked during the occupation and also ensures that no wash cycle will commence during an occupation.
Voice Messages: If this detector stops detecting movement while the unit continues to be occupied, a voice message will alert the user to make enough movement to activate the sensor and confirm that the cubicle is still in use.
Limited Occupation Time: Occupation of the unit is permitted for a ten minute period (this time is adjustable) and, after this period, a voice message will alert the occupier that their use time has expired giving a one minute warning before a loud alarm sounds. It ensures the safety of most users by discouraging loitering, drug abuse or other anti-social activities in the toilet facility.
Other Safety Features Include: Grab bars and rails for disabled users, Slip resistant perforated SS floor and signage for users.
No, the main entry door to the IPtoilet itself is held in the closed position by a concealed electric lock. It will give access to inside when a user insert coin or push a button and then push the door to open. After get inside, there is no automation but only a normal door handle that anybody can open. Further, the person inside can use a tower bolt inside, to lock the door normally.
Further there is option to open front panel from outside and it is possible to open the door handle inside using the front panel opening in emergency situations.
The IPtoilet facility is equipped with a wash down facility that washes the cubicle down on a regular basis after a preset number of uses. This wash cycle will only occur if the unit is locked up and the movement detector does not detect any movement within the cubicle. IP toilets are designed for self cleaning using water jet system inside. It cleans floor and wall of SS cladding inside. It has provision for manual clearing using water jet provided for outer area cleaning. There is waste bin inside which opens to service area. Thus daily one time cleaning is advisable which requires disposal of waste bin, pressure water cleaning of our foot step and outer area, coin collection, etc. The cleaning frequency of the automated system can be adjusted according to client requirement.
Damage Resistant Structure: The structure of the IPtoilet facility is very sturdy and resistant to damage.
Graffiti Resistance: Stainless steel 304 grade internal panels with 1.5mm thickness ensure that graffiti can be removed easily.
Perforated Floor: IPtoilets have special floor design with 316 grade stainless steel with perforated floor.
Stainless Steel Fittings: All of the fixtures, including the Altersoft sensor wash basin unit, toilet pans, grab bars and, on more recent units, the light fittings are all stainless steel and these fittings are very robust and able to withstand extreme vandalism.
Minimum Moving Parts: The designers of the IPtoilet product have specifically worked to ensure the minimum of moving parts which also minimizes the opportunities for any vandalism damage to occur.
Access to cloud-based remote monitoring system called www.pwdtoilet.com is available from Altersoft. Authorized personnel are able to make changes to the settings remotely.
No, most components are readily available from local suppliers.
The original philosophy for an IPtoilet facility was to purchase as much off-the-shelf product as possible to ensure that customers would have the confidence to purchase an IPtoilet and know that they would be able to obtain spare parts over the long term. In order to meet the stringent quality requirements, we had to develop a number of specialist products suitable for a unisex or neutral gender facility.
As a result of this, there are now a wide range of specialist IPtoilet components in the toilet facility. But most of these are constructed from heavy duty stainless steel or chromed brass so they are unlikely to need replacement over the life of the unit.
Many of the electronic components like movement sensors, basin controllers and voice module have also been designed and developed specifically for the IPtoilet product. But the company does have a large stock of spare part components available at any time for repairs. Often parts are upgraded or superseded and, in these instances, every attempt has been made to ensure that an alternative better engineered product is available to be installed in the same location.
Yes, all IPtoilet units can be easily moved to a new location. If an IPtoilet unit has to be moved at any time, it is a simple process to re-attach the lifting bars to the unit, disconnect the sewer, greywater, power and water supply and then crane the unit onto a truck for transportation.
Yes, Altersoft offers a comprehensive refurbishment service for older units.
We suggest every 10 to 15 years. It is recommended that heavily used units that regularly sustain damage should be refurbished every eight to ten years while units located where they are not frequently used and not exposed to much vandalism, will retain their good appearance for fifteen to twenty years before refurbishment is required.
IPtoilet installations should be located in a very visible site preferably with the doors facing a well travelled road way. This approach usually eliminates vandalism and anti-social behavior in the toilet facilities.
IPtoilet self contained toilet facilities are designed specifically for comfortable use for all members of the community including adults of either sex, children and people with disabilities. They are most suitable for locations where users would arrive and depart randomly over the course of the day. They are frequently used in parks, tourist places and main street retail environments in city, suburbs, and highways or in larger towns.
The service and support systems offered by Altersoft Innovations India Pvt Ltd include the following:

IPtoilet cleans its wall and floor frequently and automatically but the system uses high pressure water jet cleaning without using any harmful cleaning solutions. The pressure cleaning of 20 seconds make sure minimum required water usage. It also uses sensor tape and sensor flushing which also ensures minimum water usage.
IPtoilet installation requires minimum space of 65 sq. feet for IPtoilet 1020 Double unit model. Customers can choose outer design as per their plan.
It is specially treated bacteria driven environmentally effective grey water treatment system which decomposes bio-waste into gas and odorless clean water.
Most of the times, toilet hygiene is compromised since users may not wet the toilet pan before using it. Our IPtoilet employs pre-flush mechanism that wets the pan before every use automatically. This makes it possible to clean the pan in a single flush from the cistern. Pre-flush is an age old technique of wetting the toilet pan before every usage. The inbuilt automation initiates a very quick and limited flush to wet the pan before usage. Therefore the waste does not stick to the surface and normal flush is adequate for cleaning. Water usage for cleaning also will be a minimum.
The IPtoilet unit has battery backup and water backup to use persons inside when there is any power failure happens or water depletes. It will not allow any person let inside when there is no water or power.
ISV is the intelligent service vehicle to clean IPtoilets periodically. The unmanned self cleaning facility inside IPtoilet will be effective with daily one time manual cleaning with waste disposal from waste collection bags, removal of plastic bottles or any graffiti from interior or exterior area, collection of coins and inspecting electronic elements. Altersoft designed special purpose vehicle for this purpose which can be used by a service person to manage minimum 50 toilet locations within a city limits of IPtoilet installation.
IPtoilet 1020 Double: This model provides two cubicles in a single frame. One can be used for gents and other for ladies. It is highly advisable in Indian context. It has 120cm*120cm inside floor area with 240cm height and thus can be used with dignity without touching on walls. There is service corridor in between both the toilets. The outer size is 13 feet * 5 feet. And thus it requires only 65 sq. ft. area to install IPtoilet on a wayside.
IPtoilet 1010 Single: This is single seated toilet with the cubicle size of 120cm*120cm inside floor area with 240cm height and thus can be used with dignity without touching on walls. The service area is attached to the toilet outer cladding.
IPtoilet MINI Single: This model is a cost effective one with space saving for school children usage. It has all common facilities except touch free wash basin. The inner size has 100cm*100cm with service area kept along with outside fabrication.
IPtoilet 1020 Double: Rs.1400000/- plus installation cost at site
IPtoilet 1010 Single: Rs.750000/- plus installation cost at site
IPtoilet MINI Single: Rs.650000/- plus installation cost at site
Generally public toilets are kept in nooks and corners where there is no scope for advertisement. But the outer elevation of the IPtoilet can be customized to offer advertisement. In cities and highways there is high economic value for advertisement space. Further there is coin collection which can be used as revenue for daily cleaning. There is a possibility like a small utility shop, a small cafeteria or ATMs in areas where it requires. Thus cost of installation and its operational expenses can meet with proper management. Again in India there is corporate responsibility fund available for social activities. Together we can solve deficiency of toilets in our public places.
